Andria turned the pages slowly as she read the story of “The Ancient Troubles”.
The children looked up at her in wonder, her artificial voice had a soothing lilt to it, and her skin was so smooth and silvery.
They had all come to love the ornate “machine lady” from another age.
She looked out upon the beautiful city that had once lain in ruins.
She paused, moved by the thought of the dark days her and that boy had lived through.
“What’s wrong Miss Andria?” A boy child asked.
The sound of his voice pulled her out of the vision of that bygone era.
She turned to see the boy’s face. It was honest and innocent like that of her ancient companion.
She smiled at the little one. She was not designed to cry in happiness.
Yet again, her old programming had wondered into new realms it could not navigate.
Quickly, she turned to look back upon the city skyline.
“Oh…I don’t know…I was thinking…the city…it’s just so beautiful isn’t it?”
The kids looked out on the elegant towers of the metropolis as flying ships gracefully drifted between them.
They could see it’s beauty anew as only children can.

The boy reached slowly for Andria. It seemed odd to be attracted to a machine.
Her skin was warmer than he had expected. She turned to look at him, slightly shocked but not offended.
She put her arm around his shoulders. Her eyes were like colorful voids, lines of blue and green seemed to fall from her irises into her pupils. He wanted to fall into the beautiful vortices.
“Does it give you pleasure to be touched?” He asked.
“Yes.” She smiled.
“Why?” He asked.
“Early models of myself were indifferent to human contact. It was found however, that this made it difficult for them to empathize and therefore understand the needs of humans. One can only understand desire if they posses it themselves.”
She leaned her face in closer to his. They kissed. Her lips were cool and sweet.
It had been quite a long time since either of them had been held in such a way.

Andria and the boy sat on the edge of the Sky Sailor as it made it’s way slowly over the landscape of the ruined world.
The boy looked down at the vast devastation.”Do you think technology is a good thing?” He asked.
Andria thought for a moment. “I suppose it depends on what it’s used for.”
She paused.
“Would you like to see something beautiful?” She asked.
The boy looked at her an smiled. “Yes!”
Andria delicately manipulated the controls on her chest and a small opening appeared in the center. She carefully pulled out a small and beautifully intricate metallic object. It glittered with tiny blue and yellow lights.
The boys eyes widened. “Is this your heart?” The boy asked as he stared deeply into the layers of the complex little machine.
Andria smiled. “Something like that, perhaps my mind or my soul.”
The boy was transfixed by it’s beauty. “Can I touch it?”
“Yes.” Andria said calmly.
The boy reached forward slowly. The Object was warm to the touch and he could feel a smooth tingling in his fingertips. He looked up at her face and said. “I think this technology is very good!”
Andria smiled. “So do I!”

The boy’s health was failing when they came across the wreckage of the ancient craft.
Andria carefully untangled the ships massive solar sail.
As she freed it, the sail unfurled itself high into the air and the ship began to rise from the debris.
She quickly carried the boy aboard as the vessel began to drift toward their destination.
Though they most likely traveled in a ship, common lore often depicts Andria with wings.
The “Sail for Sol” may refer to the ship’s sail itself but most believe it symbolizes a journey to the sun.

This is a monument built in honor of the ancient android who saved one of the last members of the human race. Her story is being told through images and music in this project called “Icons of Andria”.
The “Luna” tarot card signifies good luck and a safe voyage through time and space but also from this existence to the next.

This allows her to see the lines of benevolent destinies within the web of all possible futures.
